Dental emergencies are serious and should never be ignored. If a dental emergency is not treated, permanent damage can occur and more expensive dental treatment will be required. If needed, Dr. Jim Heck will treat a dental emergency in Greenwood, Indiana.
We stress the importance of knowing what to do in the case of a dental emergency. In all cases, contact White River Family Dental and see our dentist as soon as possible. If you have a toothache, rinse your water with warm water and remove any lodged food with floss. Use a cold compress to control any swelling. In the case of chipped or broken teeth, save the pieces. Rinse your mouth and the pieces in warm water. Use a gauze pad to control any bleeding and a cold compress to control swelling. If you knock out a tooth, rinse it with water and try to reinsert it. Make sure that the tooth is facing the right way and never try to force the tooth back into place. If the tooth will not reinsert, place it in a container of milk and bring it with you when you see our dentist. In the case of a lost dental filling, place a piece of sugar-free gum into the cavity to protect it until our dentist can replace the dental filling.
